Little Acorns Children's Center

Education Philosophy and Mission

We believe that children need a learning environment which is both physically and emotionally safe, comfortable like an extension of the family.  In order for children to feel safe, secure, and nurtured, children and parents must establish close personal relationships with each other and with staff.

We understand children learn through play and we recognize that each child is an individual learner.  We believe children are naturally curious and creative, and have innate ability and drive to learn.

We recognize one philosophy alone cannot provide the best quality and value or meet each child’s needs which is why LACC is inspired by and adopts aspects of many philosophies such as those of Reggio Emilia, Maria Montessori, Rudolf Steiner (Waldorf), Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky, among others, as well as Chinese culture.

LACC believes learning must be play-based, emerging, incorporates nature, utilizes creative art and always adopts best practices.  We strive to scaffold and support each individual learning style.  In the meantime, we also believe that fostering social-emotional development is at the heart of developmentally-appropriate early childhood education.  To achieve that end, our curriculum focuses on building social skills, supporting a positive self-concept, and enhancing self-esteem.
